Best city in the world is a pretty massive superlative, but that's how I like to roll. A city where you can find the best wine, the best food, the best coffee. If life isn't about reaching the extremes, than what's the point?
I'm not sure I'm ready to give Florence the best city in the world title, but it's pretty dang close. At last count, I've been to 22 countries and more than half the states in the U.S. My list of travels includes living in the beautifully eclectic city of San Francisco for 5 years, exploring the natural beauty of Cape Town, navigating the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, indulging in the incredibly delicious food and architecture in Barcelona, exploring the ever-growing list of diverse restaurants in Portland, and scouting so many more amazing cities. Something about Florence stands apart though. The massive, unbelievable Duomo that anchors the center, the astounding quality of restaurants that surround it (I mean, wood-fired pizzas on every corner), the natural beauty of the Arno river that cuts through it, and the home to the best coffee shop(s) in the world, Ditta Artigianale.
Florence also happens to stand at the edge of the most enchanting countryside in the world. Yes, another superlative, but one I'm ready to throw down with ease. I'll save Toscana for another post. But for now, enjoy a few of my favorites from Firenze, and then find a date in the near future to book a trip. Ciao Bella!
