Oh what? You've never heard of the Elfin Forest? Me neither until I googled the address for the wedding I was heading to go shoot. The address said Escondido, I knew where that was. But as I made my way through the hills and deep into no-man's land, I realized, I have no idea where the Elfin Forest is. It sounds like a magical place out of Lord Of The Rings or something. As I drove up the winding hill and started to be able to see for miles, I knew it was going to be special.
The venue was the groom, Tommy's family estate on top of a hill overlooking all of Northern San Diego. It was miles from the beach but had a perfect view of the ocean. Notice how I called it an estate and not a house? Yeah, that's because this place was LEGIT. Apparently, the story I put together from the bridal party's speeches, were Tommy's mom invented the fanny pack. And apparently that was Tommy's pick-up line to score the beautiful Rose. Nice work Tommy.
The day started with photographing the bridesmaids at the local Rancho Santa Fe fire station at the bottom of the hill. The firemen provided some nice eye candy for the girls and gave us a great backdrop to get the day started. The rest of the night concluded at the groom's family estate under string lights and a perfect mix of friends and family.
Elfin Forest is a magical place that I don't know when I'll get to visit next. The valleys are filled with horse stables and the mountain peaks filled with beautiful homes of fanny pack inventors. I hope I'm lucky enough to get to go back to this enchanted forest. Only time will tell.
Also, don't miss the couple getting hoisted up on chairs for the traditional Hora dance towards the end of the gallery. So fun! Really hoping more people adopt this tradition, haha.
Also, if you're looking for the designer and maker of the bride's wedding dress, the bride made it. Yeah, pretty freaking talented.
So you made it to the bottom? I commend you. You must really love me. Hahahha jk. But I hope so. If you're looking to book me to be your photographer, hit the button below.
